Yeah… as a person with a number of mental illness who has a psych degree and reads a lot of the new journal articles, with the exception of some work being done on genetic classification of mental disorders and their treatment this fellow is a fool and possibly also a liar. Depending on the extent to which he is a fool.
It’d be nice if this were true, or if it worked, but it isn’t and it doesn’t.

I agree, erouting. Amen is a shameless self-promoter, more concerned with the success of his supplement business than the success of his patients who are left with only his commercially successful placebos. If he was actually advancing the state of psychiatry or psychology, he would at least publish in the fields’ academic journals, but no, just TED talks and YouTube videos, praying on the vulnerable.

everything that is controversial within the realm that gave us lobotomies and brain-damaging electro-shock therapy is either ‘fraudulent’ or ‘fringe’. There is enough testimonial accounts to confirm there is something important to his teaches, which truly bear more weight than easily manipulated scientific ’studies’ that are laughably biased. Funny that isn’t it, perhaps you need to open your mind to the cutting edge that is nearly always controversial and contradicts the toxic status quo, otherwise you can suffer under the historically most dangerous and toxic mental illness that has led to hundreds of millions of deaths: Statism.

Whatever. Amen’s FMRI analysis of neurodivergent brains seems quite immature compared to the latest imagine research that denies the historic assumption that one can locate functions in particular brain regions. If he’d been using MRI machines for science rather than marketing, he’d be on top of this and might have been moving science ahead rather than his personal wealth.
I appreciate calls for investigating testimonies; that’s where placebo-controlled double blind trials can sort out and measure scalable effects. Amen isn’t interested in those; they don’t butter his parsnips.

FMIR’s are fun. I think the good doctor had contributed to knowledge on concussions and the damage from head blows during sports kids play. Look at the brain health of pro athletes, especially NFL meat puppets walking around like zombies in their 50’s. My brother sells sports equipment to regional high schools and colleges and say the new helmet tech has helped reduce damages from head blows.
I could never watch more than a few mins of his PBS videos - sounded like your typical American marketing crap.
Sometimes a researcher contributes to ongoing science AND preys upon the gullible & desperate. The humans are a little more complicated than either all good or all bad.

Read-listen to Robert Sapolsky for a better understanding of how and why the humans behave the way they do. I especially like how he’s blown all the same lame arguments for that mythical free will out of the water and sunk the ship. Not that the normies could ever accept it without losing their fragile minds. There’s a reason why human brains adapted the ability to conjure up freewill and denial and gods and purpose.
I’ve found that telling people that the only reason we appear to be here is to reduce gradients and help bring about the heat death of the universe. For the individual, it starts when they are conceived and ends when they die.
